Zach Needs Your Help
We have a heart for our special needs dogs and cats always!
PLEASE HELP ZACK
UPDATE 06/1: Sweet Zack has been checked on daily at the hospital by his foster parents. He is getting the care he needs around the clock there. More test are needed and Almost Home Animal Rescue and adoption will do anything for Zack. WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP. The Hospital Bill is growing everyday, but will stand by Zach no matter what will help him. Could you help Zack by making a donation of any amount We thank you in advance. ❤
UPDATE 03/2: Almost Home Animal Rescue wanted to update everyone about ZACK. We heard from Zack’ s dedicated foster mom who has been visiting him on a daily basis. He is doing BETTER, he is picking up his head, eating better and wanting to go home. We will continue to help Zack, however, the hospital statement is STILL growing. If you would like to sponsor Zack or make a one time donation, please see above.
UPDATE 02/22 – WE NEED YOUR HELP. Zack was brought to the animal hospital on February 20th late in the evening due to Grand-Mal Seizures. He is currently receiving round the clock care at Atlantic Coast Veterinary Hospital, having continuous focal seizures.
Zack has hydrocephalus and has had a shunt from the time he was a puppy. He has had some complications in the past that have since been resolved. He’s gone seizure-free for a long time until recently, and the doctors are trying to figure out the cause. Now it is a matter of finding the right combination of medicine to get the seizures under control.
Please help us help Zack, our sweet and deserving special needs resident, by making a small tax-deductible donation toward his care
UPDATE 01/17 – One of our most recent, sweetest Neurology patients from Almost Home Animal Rescue & Adoption, Zack is being treated by Dr. Berg, Dr. Lopez and our amazing Neurology team. Zack has been diagnosed with Hydrocephalus which is an increase of fluid production in the brain. Zack will need regular continued care to help regulate his seizures. Please keep Zack in your thoughts as he has a long road ahead of him. Please click on the following link to see his most recent update with Dr. Berg today. ❤️ If you can help Almost Home Animal Rescue with Zacks medical expenses, please the donate button.
Zachs Begenning 2013
It Started in 2013 when Almost Home rescued Zack and one of our long term fosters decided to take him in to help.
July 2013
One of the things we would like to talk about is a 4 ½ month old puppy named “Zack”. Almost Home took Zack from the Town of Smithtown Shelter. Not only is he blind, but he started having seizures, almost daily, and they get quite severe L . We think that is why the owners gave him up.
However, we at Almost Home had to come by and help instead of him suffering at a shelter.
He is a happy-go-lucky baby, despite his vision loss, unsteady gait and seizures; he never stops wagging his tail!!!! His seizures are getting more frequent. He went for an MRI and spinal tap. The MRI showed hydrocephalus (water on the brain) and possible encephalitis. A shunt was placed to drain fluids from the brain. The MRI, spinal tap and surgery, the cost is over $9,000.00.
We are a small group with a big heart and are going to stand by him but we need your help. Please consider making a donation in “Zacks” name. Every Penny will Help !!!!!
UPDATE: Zack had surgery on June 27th in the afternoon. Happily, we can report that Zack is doing well and is seizure free. We ask you all to keep your fingers and paws crossed.
In our July Newsletter, we talked about the 5 1/2 month old Zack who went thru so much already for a pup.
Almost Home saved Zack from a local town shelter. When we rescued him, he was blind and started having seizures, almost daily, and they got quite severe L .

Zack had surgery on June 27th in the afternoon. We were happy to report Zack was doing well and seizure free. Unfortunately, a few days later, Debbie, one of Almost Home’s Volunteers taking care of Zack had to bring him back to the hospital. He had some problems with the shunt so he had to get surgery to correct it. The surgery went well again for the second time. Debbie is making sure he gets lots of rest and TLC. Above is a picture of Zack and his new little buddy. The staff at LIVS wanted to send him home with the teddy bear that he befriended while he was there. Apparently, he slept with it the whole time he was in recovery.
We are a small group with a big heart and are going to stand by him but we still need your help. Please consider making a donation in “Zacks” name. Every Penny will Help !!!!
